Location: Inkwell Booksellers Company, Minneapolis, Minnesota
Job Type: Variable, part-time
Compensation: $16.50 - 18 per hour (based on experience), plus tips
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will love coffee, books, and dogs. They will have excellent customer service skills, and a desire to create an inviting atmosphere for our customers. Starting immediately.
Position Schedule:
Saturday 8am - 12pm
Sunday 7:15am - 12pm
What We’re Looking For:
Book Knowledge: None required, but you will be asked questions. So enthusiasm is a bonus.
Customer-Focused Attitude: You’ll be the face of our shop so good customer service skills are key.
Multitasker: The job gets busy, so being able to handle multiple orders while keeping things organized is important.
Barista Experience: Cafe experience required. We offer ongoing training, so you can deepen your coffee craft.
Responsibilities Include:
Greeting customers and taking orders with a friendly attitude
Maintaining a clean, organized work area
Operating the register and handling cash/credit transactions
Helping with restocking and store upkeep
Creating an inviting atmosphere for all guests
Support to barista/shift lead in preparing
Serving pastries

What We’re Looking For:
Book Knowledge: A passion for books is a must. You do not need to have a broad knowledge of genres to start, there are opportunities to share recommendations and knowledge amongst staff.
Customer-Focused Attitude: You’ll be the face of our shop so good customer service skills are key.
Multitasker: The job gets busy, so being able to pivot between tasks and customers is important.
Bookseller Experience: Previous experience is not required, retail experience in general is preferred.
Responsibilities Include:
Interacting with the public nearly constantly in person, by phone, or via email
Maintaining store upkeep including dusting, cleaning, organizing, tidying
Operating our book-industry specific point of sale system, and financial transactions with accuracy
Lifting, carrying, and moving heavy items (up to 40 pounds); reaching and bending to high and low shelves
